In more fallout from the robo-signing scandal, the Fourth District Court of Appeal reversed a foreclosure Wednesday for a Lake Worth pro se appellant challenging JPMorgan Chase Bank for lack of standing.
Florida has the biggest inventory of backlogged foreclosures of any state. Compounding this issue, the state has one of the longest foreclosure timelines in the country, with the average foreclosure taking 893 days. To speed up the foreclosure process and clear out some of the backlog, Florida’s governor Rick Scott signed a new foreclosure bill into law on June 7, 2013.
U.S. banks have taken another step to clear away the wreckage of the 2008 financial crisis by agreeing to pay $8.5 billion to settle charges that they wrongfully foreclosed on millions of homeowners.
